MY STORY

Twice
I Have Walked
Through The Fire

And I'm still here for a reason.

This lifetime hasn't been easy on me.

In 1998, I survived a devastating house fire that nearly took my life. In 2025, I lost everything I owned to the Eaton Fire in Los Angeles.

Twice, I've walked through the flames. Twice, I've had to begin again.

And twice, I've been reminded that I'm here for something bigger.

I made it through the flames, and I'm here to help you get through yours.

This is my why.

The Experiences that Shaped Me

THREE TURNING POINTS. ONE DEEPER PURPOSE

1998| The Fire That Changed Everything

I ran through a wall of flames to escape my burning bedroom. With third-degree burns covering 30% of my body, I died and was medically brought back to life. That experience changed everything I thought I knew about life, death, and healing. My recovery wasn't just physical. It changed the way I understood my body, my spirit, and the connection between them. My journey eventually led me to Reiki and energy healing, opening a door to something much bigger than the life I'd known before. I began to understand that healing isn't always about making the pain disappear. Sometimes it's about discovering what lives within us, even when everything around us has fallen apart. That experience became one of the foundations of the work I do today.

2018| A Different Kind of Fire

Cancer brought another kind of darkness into my life. I found myself facing fear, uncertainty, and questions that forced me to look inward in ways I hadn't before. During this chapter, I leaned more deeply into the practices that had already become part of my life, including Reiki, hypnotherapy, meditation, and inner work. I learned more about the relationship between my mind, emotions, body, and spirit, and how important it was to create moments of peace when life felt anything but peaceful. It wasn't about pretending everything was fine or ignoring what I was going through. It was about learning how to sit with the fear without allowing it to consume every part of me. Those lessons continue to shape the way I support others through their own difficult seasons.

2025| Rising From The Ashes. Again.

In 2025, I once again lost everything I owned to fire, this time in the devastating Eaton Fire in Los Angeles. I had already rebuilt my life once. Now I was being asked to do it again. There is something difficult to put into words about having to start completely over, especially when you've already survived that kind of loss. But here I am. Twice I've earned my Phoenix wings. Twice I've had to find the strength to rise from the ashes. I've lived through being burned alive, losing everything, cancer, depression, and moments when I wanted to give up. But I didn't. I don't share these experiences because I have all the answers. I share them because I know what darkness feels like. And I know that even when you can't see the next step, there can still be a way forward.

Why The Healing Woods Is Different

I believe there is power in every part of you — the light, the shadow, and everything in between. You don't have to hide the difficult parts of yourself here.

I See the Whole You

I believe there is power in every part of you — the light, the shadow, and everything in between. You don't have to hide the difficult parts of yourself here.

I'm Not Here to Fix You
I Believe in Shadow Work

I cannot be your light, but I can remind you where yours is. My role is to walk beside you, help you reconnect with your own wisdom, and find your next step through the dark.

Where others call themselves Light Workers, I see myself as a Shadow Worker. I'm comfortable sitting with you in the uncomfortable places, honoring both the darkness and the light.

The Woman Behind The Healing Woods

I'm Kristin Dwan, a Reiki Master and Teacher, Hypnotherapist, Tarot reader, and #1 Amazon International Bestselling Author.

For over 25 years, I've helped people navigate life's challenges through energy work, ritual, and subconscious healing. My approach is deeply personal, shaped by my own experiences and the belief that there is no one-size-fits-all path to healing.

My story is woven throughout this entire website. It's in the work I do, the offerings I've created, and the way I connect with the people who find their way to me. Nothing here exists by accident. Every part of The Healing Woods carries a piece of my own journey, the lessons I've learned, and the things I believe in.

I Believe In What I Do

I believe in the power of energy, the wisdom within us, and the possibility of finding peace even when life feels anything but peaceful.

I believe our hardest chapters don't have to define the rest of our story. And I believe that sometimes, having someone walk beside us can change everything.

I don't do this work because I've read about transformation. I do it because I've lived it.

And I believe in what I do with every part of who I am.

If something in my story speaks to yours, perhaps our paths are meant to cross.

I'd be honored to walk beside you.
